The term "cryotherapy" comes from the Greek words "cryo," meaning cold, and "therapy," meaning treatment. There are several different types of cryotherapy, but the most common is whole-body cryotherapy (WBC), which involves exposing the entire body to extremely cold temperatures (typically around -110°C to -140°C) for a short period of time (usually 2-3 minutes). This is typically achieved using a special chamber or sauna filled with liquid nitrogen. Other forms of cryotherapy include local cryotherapy, which involves applying cold to a specific area of the body, and cryosurgery, which is a medical procedure that uses extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissues, such as tumors.
